Hungary's largest Jewish cemetery, opened in 1893, where some 300,000 people are buried, among them the swimmer Alfréd Hajós and the writer Sándor Bródy. Behind the white Moorish funeral hall by Vilmos Freund stand family crypts of the old Jewish elite: the Brüll tomb shaped like a Greek temple and guarded by Alajos Stróbl's stone lions, and Art Nouveau mausoleums with Miksa Róth mosaics, some by Ödön Lechner and Béla Lajta.
