The Grand Splendid theatre, opened in 1919, became a bookshop in 2000 and kept its stage, balconies and the dome painted by Nazareno Orlandi to celebrate the end of the First World War. Gardel began recording for the Odeón label in this building in 1920. It is famous, but porteños use it as an ordinary late-opening bookshop on Avenida Santa Fe.
