Dubai's 'Blue Mosque', funded by Khalaf Al Habtoor and modelled on Istanbul's Sultan Ahmed Mosque: 21 domes, four 55-metre pencil minarets, and a ceiling of Quranic inscriptions painted by 60 craftsmen from Fez. It is one of the few mosques in the UAE that welcomes non-Muslims, and in Ramadan it feeds 1,300 to 1,500 workers at iftar every evening.
