The blue-and-white 'mushroom' on a 40-metre stalk that every Dubai resident has driven past is a 1980 water tower, now the centrepiece of a small neighbourhood park rebuilt in 2012 as the emirate's first zero-energy park. In 2024 Dubai listed it among the modern landmarks to be preserved, next to the Clock Tower.
