Opened in 1993, its clubhouse by British architect Brian Johnson is shaped like the sails of a dhow, one of the images of 1990s Dubai. In 2024 it joined the city's list of modern buildings to preserve. It sits on the Deira bank of the Creek, with a yacht marina beside it.
