The 3.2-kilometre canal opened in 2016 to link the Creek through Business Bay and Safa Park to the sea, lined with walkways and cycle paths. Where it passes under Sheikh Zayed Road, a curtain of water pours off the bridge and switches off when boats pass below; at night it is lit in colour.
