A mountain village of more than 30 restored stone and mud-brick houses, two watchtowers and the 1896 Hatta Fort, whose 11-metre tower guarded the pass. Behind it runs the falaj, the 1800s channel that still carries mountain water to Hatta's date farms. It shows a Dubai most residents never picture: Hajar mountain life, not the coast.
