A non-profit opened in 2019 by Smita Prabhakar as the Gulf's first institution devoted to contemporary South Asian art, fitting for a city whose ties with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka go back to the pearling days. Its shows, such as Urdu Worlds in 2026, are slow, thoughtful and often the best in Alserkal.
