The 1923 coral-stone and sarooj house of Mubarak Al Oqaili (1875-1954), one of the great classical and Nabati poets of the Gulf, reached through the alleys of the Deira souk. Nine quiet wings hold his manuscripts, letters and majlis, carved teak doors and palm-beam ceilings; staff often pour gahwa as you walk in.
