The Geographic Society of 1875 keeps the travel diaries of Hermenegildo Capelo, Roberto Ivens, Silva Porto and Gago Coutinho, a huge library and an ethnographic collection in the grand Sala Portugal; it opens to walk-in visitors only once a month, so few people ever see it.
