Alessandro Manzoni lived here from 1814 until his death in 1873; his study and bedroom survive, and Cavour, Garibaldi and Verdi came here to pay their respects. The terracotta neo-Renaissance facade on Piazza Belgioioso was added for him in 1864 by Andrea Boni.
