A classical domed mausoleum above Riverside Park holds Ulysses S. Grant and his wife Julia in crypts in full view above ground: hence the old joke that nobody is buried in Grant's Tomb. Paid for by some 90,000 donors in what was then the largest public fundraiser ever.
