Oslo's main street, running from the old town by the Cathedral past the Storting, the parliament building in use since 1866, up to the Royal Palace. Its wide western stretch was laid out in the 1840s as an avenue to the new palace and named in 1852 after King Charles III John, whose equestrian statue stands in front of the palace.

- Walk it uphill from the Cathedral to the Royal Palace and end in the Palace Park, as in our Royal Oslo walking route.
