One of the very first Paris caves a manger, run for more than twenty years by Cyril Bordarier and Thomas Vicente a few steps from the canal: mismatched Formica tables, shelves of natural wine and a short bistrot menu of serious products. It is the place that taught Paris to drink natural wine with real food.

Good to know
- Book if you want to eat: the few tables are always taken; the rest is wine-shop browsing.
- Pick a bottle from the shelves and ask the staff; the list is long on Loire and Beaujolais growers.
- Their wine shop, La Cave du Verre Vole, is at 38 rue Oberkampf behind an old charcuterie front.
