Paris is France's capital, split by the Seine into the Right Bank (Louvre, Marais, Montmartre) and Left Bank (Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain, Eiffel Tower), and divided into 20 arrondissements spiralling out from the Louvre. It combines world-class museums and monuments with a dense neighbourhood food culture of bistros, bouillons, markets and wine bars. A flat-fare metro/RER system (since 2025) makes most places reachable in 30 minutes.
