Between 1932 and 1940, 33 functionalist villas with flat roofs and terraces were built here on a checkerboard plan by Pavel Janák, Josef Gočár, Ladislav Žák and the Dutch architect Mart Stam. It is one of the six Werkbund housing estates in Europe and the best preserved, and every house still has its view over Prague.
