Vratislav Karel Novák's seven-ton metronome of 1991 stands where the giant Stalin monument looked over the city until it was blown up in 1962. It symbolises the passing of time and is a warning against repeating the past; the view over the Old Town and the Vltava bridges is one of the best in Prague.
