The city's history museum reopened on 31 March 2026 after a four-year renovation. Life-size reconstructions of Nihonbashi bridge, a kabuki theatre and a watch shop, plus detailed models of Edo and Tokyo quarters, show how the city lived and how fires, earthquakes and war reshaped it.
