The heart of the 'Ringstraße of the Proletariat', the stretch of Gürtel lined with palatial council housing. Hubert Gessner's Reumannhof (1924-1926) has a monumental court of honour with a bust of mayor Jakob Reumann and majolica panels of trades over the gateways; next door, the Metzleinstalerhof (1925) was Vienna's first real Gemeindebau.
