Opened in 1912 as the 'Bierkabarett Simplicissimus' and called 'der Simpl' by the Viennese ever since, it is considered the oldest continuously played cabaret in the world. Fritz Grünbaum and Karl Farkas made their double conférences famous here in the 1920s; the red bulldog 'Bulli' was designed after Kolo Moser.
