The permanent exhibition on Red Vienna (1919-1934) sits in a former communal laundry of the Karl-Marx-Hof, the kilometre-long 'workers' Versailles' built 1927-1930 by Otto Wagner pupil Karl Ehn. It explains what the Gemeindebau meant: baths, laundries, kindergartens and libraries for the working class, plus the festival culture of the labour movement.
