The only place where most finds from Saruq Al Hadid are on show: an Iron Age metal-working site deep in the Dubai desert, spotted from a helicopter by Sheikh Mohammed. Copper slag, iron tools, fine gold jewellery and bronze snake figurines hint at trade from Mesopotamia to the Indus, and only about 10 per cent of the site has been dug.
