Site of one of Byzantium's most important sanctuaries, founded by Empress Pulcheria in 450 around a holy spring and once home to the Virgin's robe; the Byzantine complex burned in 1434. A small 19th-century church now encloses the ayazma, adorned with modern icons and frescoes.
