A late 13th-century annex of the Blachernae Palace set between the land walls, the best preserved of Istanbul's three surviving Byzantine palaces and a rare intact example of late Byzantine secular architecture. After full restoration and reroofing it opened as a museum, displaying pottery and tiles made in the abandoned palace in the 18th century.
