The Cape Verdean canteen of Laranjeiras, where Alice Conceição from São Vicente starts her giant pots of cachupa at 6:30 and doctors from the Lusíadas hospital, office workers and footballers queue at noon. For many Lisboetas, and for Time Out, this is the best cachupa in the city.

Good to know
- Arrive at 12:00: NiT reports a queue at the door when it opens, and about 100 cachupas go out each lunch.
- Order the cachupa rica, or the cachupa refogada (yesterday's, fried, with an egg on top); Friday is fish-soup day, and Tia Alice expects everyone to try the soup.
- Do not ask for rice: she pairs muamba and cachupa with greens, cassava or sweet potato. Book on Benfica match days (Time Out).
