Museum of London archaeologists found London's only Roman amphitheatre here in 1988 while digging for the new gallery; you walk down among its walls where crowds watched animal fights, executions and gladiators. In the gallery above, the City's own art collection is strong on Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite painting.
