A Line 1 station by Antonio Palacios, closed in 1966 and frozen in time: original ticket booths, tiled ceramic adverts and platforms, restored after the film 'Barrio' (1998) brought it back to attention. It closed when Line 1 platforms were lengthened for six-car trains; Chamberí, squeezed between the lengthened Bilbao and Iglesia stations and built on a curve, could not be extended.
