The Roman Senate's monument of 7/6 BC to Augustus for subduing the Alpine tribes, at the top of the Via Julia Augusta, whose 45 peoples are listed on the inscription. Once about 50 m high on a 38 m square base, it was a medieval watchtower before Jean-Camille and Jules Formigé restored it in the early 20th century; it stands on a shrine to Heracles Monoikos, the name Monaco comes from.
