The Freemasons' lodge of 1839 whose Empire-style hall, famed for its acoustics, was the city's main concert room for a century: Grieg, Ole Bull, Ibsen and Bjørnson all belonged to its world, the Oslo Philharmonic gave its first concert here in 1919, Louis Armstrong played in 1933, and Vidkun Quisling was tried here in 1945.
