The first Catholic church built in Norway after the Reformation, a red-brick neo-Gothic church by H. E. Schirmer consecrated in 1856, at the top of Akersgata. Queen Josefine gave it the copy of Raphael's Sistine Madonna and the "Olavsarm" reliquary of St. Olav, kept in a glass case by the choir steps.
