Opened in 1825 in an old gypsum quarry below the Butte, with some 20,000 tombs on both sides of Rue Caulaincourt: Degas, Gustave Moreau, Berlioz, Stendhal, Gautier, Sacha Guitry and Dalida lie here, and the Zola family grave keeps Émile's name.
