The gardens below the Palais de Chaillot, shaped by the 1878 and 1937 exhibitions, are the classic place to look at the Eiffel Tower across the Seine. The 1937 Warsaw fountain fires 20 water cannons 50 metres, and in the evening lights pick out its gilded statues.
