A family found human bones while renovating this house in 1996: it sits on the Cemitério dos Pretos Novos, the burial ground of enslaved Africans who died just after landing at Valongo. Glass windows in the floor show the excavation. It is the most direct way to understand Pequena África, and few visitors find it.
