Good to know
- At the purification fountain rinse left hand, right hand, then your mouth from your cupped hand, never from the ladle; at the hall bow twice, clap twice, pray, bow once (japan-guide.com etiquette).
- Keep to the sides of the approach: the centre is for the deities (japan-guide.com etiquette).
- The Inner Garden with Kiyomasa's Well is best in mid-June, when the irises bloom.
