Ca' Macana

ShopLocal favourite

Founded in 1986 by Mario Belloni and Antonella Masnata, who rediscovered the papier-mache 'ancient technique' when the Carnival came back: a clay model, a plaster mould, then layers of blotting paper soaked in water and glue. Their bautas and morettas are copied from Pietro Longhi and Guardi paintings, and they made masks for Eyes Wide Shut. It also teaches mask-making to schools and visitors.
