An 11 km strip of land, in places only 23 metres wide, between the lagoon and the Adriatic. Its four villages (San Pietro in Volta, Portosecco, Sant'Antonio and Pellestrina) live from fishing: boats are moored along the lagoon side and older women still make bobbin lace on their doorsteps. On a still winter day you cannot tell where water and sky meet.
