Alphand's 1867 park for Napoleon III, blasted out of an old gypsum quarry into a 50-metre crag with cliffs, a grotto, a lake and a suspension bridge, with a view to the Sacré-Cœur from the top. Its lawns, where picnics are allowed, make it a very popular summer spot for eastern Paris.
